Stuff on wall

Friday, October 17th, 2008

My shoes were on the floor yesterday. Then my mom and I went to IKEA, and some hours later shoes were on wall instead! Those hours inbetween included

  • getting lost, and being naughty by walking against the arrow marks on the floor
  • eating Swedish meatballs and chocolate pudding
  • forgetting our free coffee
  • discussing whether the cashier was flirting with me or not
  • explaining to a drunk guy why I did not want to help him call his wife in India
  • feeling a bit guilty about not helping drunk guy with love
  • and then finally balancing in my stairway equipped with only half of the tools needed – arguing about millimeters, and agreeing upon what I should write on my Christmas wish list (electric drill at the top)

It was very liberating getting the shoes away from the floor – and I am ready to stick scarves and hats and all sorts of things to the wall now. Hanging stuff up on walls is an idea I got from my ex-flatmate Jenni and her “capmania”:

Capmania
Jenni is quite excited about stuff on walls too :)

Cause charts rule

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

I found this cute song through Dan Roam’s blog about a little girl expressing her love for charts. The graphics are quite ugly after my opinion, but the song still might inspire some kids to become information designers one day… Because a chart is indeed a “handy dandy scientific tool” :) Here are the lyrics:

I like checking out charts, cause charts rule
A chart is a handy dandy scientific tool
It gives you information you can see with your eyes
A chart lets you visualize
You get the picture – So do I!

May I please draw your attention to this weather chart
I tell you this chart is a work of art
I see clouds on Friday and rain on Monday
And look there’s gonna be sun on Sunday!

I like checking out charts, cause charts rule
A chart is a handy dandy scientific tool
It gives you information you can see with your eyes
A chart lets you visualize
You get the picture – So do I!

How many kids like a dog or a cat?
Who wears a hoody and who wears a hat?
Making a chart of what people eat
Some charts look like a pie and you know that’s sweet!

I like checking out charts, cause charts rule
A chart is a handy dandy scientific tool
It gives you information you can see with your eyes
A chart lets you visualize
You get the picture – So do I!
